EXAMPLE ON DEFLECTION CALCULATION FOR BEAM SUBJECTED TO UDL AT PARTICULAR SPAN OF BEAM,SERIES-5

“Feel the structure”MSA

Dear friends,

As Explained in Series-IV, i am here by uploading deflection  calculation for cantilever beams for a load for a particular regions instead of whole region of beams. I will recommend all structural engineers not to remember general formula. Please go through easy steps which will help you to derive easily for calculation for deflection for  any kind of loads in a beams (either point load, udl, concentrated moments). To grasp whole concept, please go through Series-I to V.

Download pdf from the below mentioned link.

Now Enjoy this Series and will be back with very interesting examples on analysis of continuous  beams , frames etc. with Moment Distribution Method (MDM)  and will also upload examples on analysis of beams for rolling load based on Influence Line Diagram(ILD).

Please download from here for deflection calculation for beams.

EXCEL SHEET FOR THE DESIGN OF ISOLATED FOOTING WITH ACTUAL SURCHARGE/EARTH FILLING LOAD

“Feel the structure” MSA

Dear Friend,

Here i am attaching a valuable excel sheet for the design of isolated footing with actual surcharge /earth filling weight calculated in the same sheet. Generally, as a designer, we take 10% of total axial load for self weight of footing and filling but when you will actually calculate surcharge/filling weight & self weight of footing, it will be 30% to 40% and in some cases it may even  be 50%.

Hence, it is better to calculate self wight of footing and filling weight instead of taking it 10% of total axial load (1.1xP).

From here, download this excel sheet which will automatically take filling and self weight of footing when you put size and thickness of footing.

EXAMPLE ON ANALYSIS OF 2-SPAN CONTINUOUS BEAM BY MOMENT DISTRIBUTION METHOD(MDM) – SERIES(I)

Feel the structure” MSA

Here you all Civil & Structural Engineers are invited to go through this basic example solved to clarify concepts on moment distribution methods.Everybody knows the importance of moment distribution method and how it is helpful to solve indeterminate continuous beams and frames. Here i am taking you some step ahead to analyse indeterminate beams and frame by creating interest on this vital subject. In near future,i am coming with several series on this topic having best examples to clear concepts.Going through all this series, you will prefer to analyse continuous beams and frame manually rather than with software like STAAD, ANSYS etc. As it is not a verbal / visual lecture, that’s why i have walked you through in details to foster this incredible subject. But keep in mind, when you will develop concept and principle of MDM by practicing examples, then i assure you, it will help you to solve simple frame and continuous beams in very faster and easier way. Please see the previous of the said example from below.

Download pdf of solved example on MDM from the below mentioned link.

Sometimes it looks weird or you can say incredibly weird that how these examples are going to help as most of the concepts are available in books. But i would say to my readers that i have developed some tricky parts on this  which are very helpful to understand overall  concept of MDM without having visual lecture. Readers might be wandering here and there to foster concept of MDM by following some books but now i assure them all to go through this and upcoming series to develop tremendous subject of indeterminate frames & beams.I invite you all to be connected with up coming series.

This is the first series on moment distribution with a simple example of two span continuous beam in which one end is hinged and other end is fixed. With this example, i have tried to explained to form table for moment distribution and once you are able to understand this table, then other associated part will be much easier for you. Also, i have solved in detail for the formation of BMD & SFD in non conventional method and it is quite easy to understand.
